WHO WE ARE.
We are a big family. Wake Dog`z started in Acapulco in 2003 at Los Pavorreales marina offering wakeboarding classes behind a little yellow Jet Boat. In the beginning, Corey was at the wheel and Jordy was in the water teaching. As time went on and interest in wake sports grew we invited professional instructors to help out with the coaching at our wakeboard school, giving clinics, camps and private wakeboard lessons. Our first guest wakeboarding instructor was the legendary Erik “Gator” Lutgert, a pioneer in wakeboarding and owner/founder of Gator Boards. Ever since that first wakeboarding clinic in 2005 with the inspirational presence of Gator and Jeff Mckee, the list of wakeboard instructors has continued to grow.
Wakeboarding, wakeskating and wakesurfing in Cancun are relatively new sports, constantly changing and growing. We have been a part of the evolution in wakeboarding and wakeskating with the help of professional athletes like Mark Weikel, Wes Brisco, Ryan Byerly and professional photografer Matt Maloy. Mexican surfing legend Jordy Sanchez who grew up on the beaches of Acapulco has refined the sport of wakesurfing by applying his surfing expertice behind the boat. Wake Dog’z has grown into a family of amazing athletes over the last eight years and has continued to promote the sports of wakeboarding, wakeskating and wakesurfing here in Mexico by hosting over a dozen clinics and exhibitions.
Wake Dog’z is proud to be working first hand with the creators of these sports, athletes like Scott and Ryan Byerly who are changing the sport day by day and improving the equipment one ride at a time. Whether you are a professional athlete yourself or are just learing, Wake Dog’z Cancun has something for you. Together with our head coach Ryan Byerly, our objective is to improve and promote the sports of wakeboarding, wakesurfing and wakeskating, in a fun and safe environment. WHAT DO WE DO?
Wake Dog’z offers a fun family experience out on the water in Cancun. We coach wakeboarding, wakeskating and wakesurfing to riders of all ages in Cancun’s Nichupte Lagoon and in the Caribbean Sea between the Cancun Hotel Zone and Isla Mujeres. Our entire bilingual crew has extensive backgrounds in extreme sports, when we are not out in the boat waterskiing, wakeboarding, wakeskating and wakesurfing, we are inline skating, skateboarding, windsurfing, paddleboarding and surfing. Our Epic Wakeboat 23V with it’s 400 hp V8 engine is fully equipped with the most recent wakeboard, wakeskate and wakesurf equipment from brand names like Byerly Boards, Gator Boards, Ronix Wakeboards and Phase 5 Wakesurfers. All you need is a swim suit, so come amped and ready to shred.!
WHO IS RYAN BYERLY?
Ryan Byerly is a third generation Orlando Florida Waterman. He has been on the water his whole life. Born into a waterski family he learned barefooting and slalom skiing from a very young age, and together with his brother Scott and friends including Parks Bonifay, Gator Lutgert, Matt Maloy, CC Roberts, Drew McGuckin, Sarah Cline, Johnny King, Rich Goforth and Brannon Meek pioneered the sports of wakeboarding and wakeskating. With over thiry years of experience Ryan knows all the tricks and is an excellent instructor always showing enthusiasm for his students and taking the time to make sure that everyone learns and has a great time.
